Associate Deans for Research (ADRs) represent 6 colleges and schools across UNM. ADRs serve as liaisons between college/school researchers and University Administrators, including the Vice President for Research.

The Anderson School of Management at the University of New Mexico is dedicated to excellence in professional management education. Tom Turner, Ph.D.

Associate Dean for Research


The College of A&S Research Office supports, develops, and advocates research and scholarship in our UNM community.  They provide funds for starting and continuing faculty, supporting research training opportunities for A&S students, and make investments in research infrastructure. They help A&S faculty identify new sources of external funding, link to interdisciplinary research groups, and prepare proposals to external funding agencies and foundations to sustain our investments.  They passionately advocate meaningful student research and scholarship experiences as foundation to the A&S’s overarching mission of delivering a flagship education to the emerging American majority.

Kristopher Goodrich, Ph.D.

Senior Associate Dean for Research and Community Engagement


The College of Education and Human Science's Office of Research and Community Engagement (ORCE) is responsible for facilitating and fostering a dynamic research climate within the college community. ORCE’s goal is to provide a supportive and responsive research environment that fosters the development and success of COE faculty and students and helps them realize their individual and collective research goals. ORCE is responsible for the design and management of critical information needed for planning, management, and decision-making throughout COE.

College of Fine Arts Research

 


Mary Tsiongas, Professor

Associate Dean for Research

Research in the College of Fine Arts is wide-ranging and innovative. It happens in the classroom, in the field, in archives and in studios that serve as laboratories for discovery. The College of Fine Arts Office of Research (CFAOR) supports the Research needs of new and established faculty through:

  • Funding searches for research and performance projects
  • Assistance with College and University policies and requirements
  • Assistance with developing collaborations within and outside the College of Fine Arts
  • Facilitation with library and other resources
  • Aid in concept development and proposal review
  • Publication of research news that highlights College of Fine Arts activities

School of Architecture & Planning Research

 


Caroline Scruggs, PhD

Associate Dean for Research

Research and scholarship are foundational to the work of the School of Architecture and Planning (SAAP). SAAP faculty have been funded by and collaborated with national agencies, international foundations, tribal and state governments, as well as cities, small towns, neighborhood associations and local non-profit organizations. Some SAAP activities range from the development of policies, programs, and designs with communities, non-profits, and governments addressing how the built environment can support their goals to researching energy and water efficiency, environmental services, public health impacts and other performative aspects of the built environment.

Edl Schamiloglu, Ph.D.

Associate Dean for Research

The School of Engineering has a wide variety of research interests that involve students as well as state-of-the-art facilities on the UNM campus and with our nearby partners at Sandia National Laboratories, Los Alamos National Laboratory, and the Air Force Research Laboratory, as well as industries and universities worldwide. Research is a fundamental element that is integrated into virtually every program at the School of Engineering. The School of Engineering is responsible for providing faculty with the technology, facilities, support, and resources they need to both spark and sustain innovation, from the grant-writing stage through a project’s completion. Through vibrant connections with our many UNM research centers, industry, national laboratories, and other universities, we provide faculty with a variety opportunities to connect with other researchers and to give students — even undergraduates — unique research experiences that benefit both them and the School.
